What to expect

This February half term on Tuesday 17th February 2026 we are inviting families to come and try Theraplay® in a Connect for Kids group session at the inspiring COMPENSARE: FOR THE SWALLOWS WE WEIGH exhibition at Eastside Projects, Birmingham. The exhibition is about our work with adoptive and kinship families at Beacon Family Services, created by artist Marley Starskey Butler. It celebrates care, connection, and the value of relationships!

When you attend this exciting half-term Connect for Kids group adventure you’ll step into a creative space that reflects how art can tell stories of belonging and nurture. While exploring the exhibition, you and your child will take part in playful Theraplay® activities designed to build trust, confidence, and joyful connection. It’s a chance to experience art and therapy coming together to create a welcoming environment for families.

We know exhibitions can sometimes feel like places where children don’t belong. This event is different. It’s designed for families who want to feel welcome, relaxed, and free to explore. You’ll step into a creative space that celebrates connection and care.

You’ll experience Theraplay® – a playful, structured approach that helps children feel safe, confident, and connected. Together, you and your child will share joyful activities that build trust, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging. And you’ll enjoy the exhibition in a way that feels inclusive and family-friendly, where your child’s energy and curiosity are embraced.

Come along, enjoy the exhibition, and discover how play can transform relationships. Your child will be welcomed, celebrated, and supported whatever their age or needs.
