Therapeutic Support for Schools in Birmingham
In person • Commissioned by schools
Some children find it harder to feel safe in relationships, trust the adults around them, or manage big feelings in the classroom particularly those who are adopted, in foster care, or have experienced early adversity.
We work alongside school staff supporting them to build and strengthen relationships, so children feel connected, secure and ready to learn. Our Theraplay®-informed approach uses structured, playful interactions to build trust, so children feel supported to manage their feelings and enjoy learning at school.
We offer targeted support for children. Our way of working supports the whole class through play, connection and strong relationships. We specialise in working with children in Key Stages 1 and 2, helping them feel safe, grow in confidence and build their sense of belonging at school.
“We found it hugely beneficial to partner with Beacon Family Services to run Group Theraplay® sessions for targeted children and parent sessions. The facilitators understood each student and their unique needs and tailored the programme accordingly. Each child learnt strategies for understanding and reuglating themselves and their emotions and benefitted from the group work. Prior to the sessions, school needs were discussed, understood and met. The inclusion of parents in the programme was lovely and beneficial for all concerned.”
